Pune: 8 People Killed In Three Separate Accidents On Pune-Solapur Highway

Pune, September 21, 2020: Eight people were killed in three different accidents on the Pune-Solapur highway in the early hours of Monday, within Yavat police station’s limits. As many as four people have sustained injuries as well.

The first accident occurred when a pedestrian was hit by an unidentified vehicle on the highway at Wakhari village (taluka. Daund), and the victim died on the spot.

Around 3:30 am near Kasurdi village, approx 50 km from Pune, five persons were killed after the car they were traveling in, hit a container truck. According to Pune Rural police, the container truck driver halted midway to park and was rammed by the car from behind. The truck driver had gone to answer nature’s call.

In the third accident, a driver lost control when the gas truck’s wheel got stuck in a pothole, causing the container to head in the opposite direction near Sahajpur. Meanwhile, two passing cars crashed into the container. One of the car drivers died on the spot while the other was rushed to the nearest hospital, where he was declared dead.

After receiving information about all the three accidents that took place around midnight, Yavat police rushed to the spot and shifted the injured persons to hospitals. Further investigation is going on.
