Pune: 80-100 Freshers Duped in Hinjewadi IT Job Scam; Two Firm Directors Arrested
Hinjewadi, 24th April 2026: Pimpri Chinchwad Police on Wednesday arrested two directors of a private company for allegedly cheating 80 to 100 fresh graduates by promising jobs in the IT sector and collecting money from them under the guise of placements in Hinjewadi.
The accused, identified as Amol Balasaheb Mahadik and Omkar Dadaso Mahadik, are directors of Accure Softtech Pvt Ltd, a firm established in 2023. They were produced before a court, which remanded them to five days of police custody.
According to Hinjewadi Police, the duo allegedly collected amounts ranging from Rs 50,000 to Rs 2 lakh from job seekers across Maharashtra, by assuring them employment and internships in reputed IT companies.
Police said the candidates were issued offer letters and initially asked to work from home. They were allegedly told that after a few months they would be placed with leading firms in Hinjewadi IT Park.
However, police said the company stopped paying them after the first or second month, leading several candidates to suspect fraud.
One of the complainants, a 23-year-old man from Latur district, told police that he had paid Rs 1.5 lakh through online transfers after being promised an internship with a monthly stipend of Rs 15,000. He alleged that despite working for three months, he was neither paid nor assigned any actual projects, with the company citing a lack of new work.
The FIR also mentions four other victims. Two of them allegedly paid Rs 2 lakh each, while the others paid Rs 50,000 and Rs 80,000.
Senior Police Inspector Balaji Pandhare said the company was operating from a small 500 sq ft office and carried out the entire recruitment process online. The work-from-home model was allegedly used to avoid in-person meetings.
Police suspect more victims may come forward. Officials have urged job seekers to verify company credentials before paying money for placements.
The case comes months after another alleged recruitment fraud in Hinjewadi in which nearly 400 of freshers were reportedly duped. The issue of sub job frauds was raised in the state assembly earlier this year by Chinchwad BJP MLA Shankar Jagtap following which Labour Minister has assured to take preventive action on this matter.
