Pune, 7th July 2022: The Maharashtra State Education Department made a surprise visit to 13 of the 51 unapproved schools revealing that there are nine schools that still continue to function. It is to be noted that these nine schools have not taken a pre-approval or a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the education department.

But it has been claimed that these institutions started the admissions process for this academic year with the state education officer’s consent.

Sanjay Naikade, PCMC Education Administration Officer said, “Two schools that were on the unapproved list were discovered to be operating when we conducted a surprise inspection. We penalised the school administration Rs. 1 lakh and Rs 10,000 per day. The involved education officers have requested a written explanation or face disciplinary punishment, and legal action has been started.”

Audumber Ukirde, Divisional Deputy Director of Education, Pune, said, “No signs stating that the schools were unapproved were posted at the entrance gates. Everyone was informed that this procedure was necessary. The state department will sue the schools in court.”

Talking about the involvement of officials, he said, ” Disciplinary action will be taken against the involved officials. We are in the process of initiating it.”
