Pune: 90% of State Government Services to Go Digital Within Two Months – CM Devendra Fadnavis
Pune, 27th September 2025: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday announced that 90% of Maharashtra’s government services will be made available online within the next two months, enabling citizens to access essential services from their homes. Out of the 1,100 government services currently offered, most will soon be accessible digitally, including via WhatsApp.
The announcement was made during an event at the Sahityaratna Lokshahir Anna Bhau Sathe Cultural Auditorium in Yerawada, Pune. The programme was linked to the nationwide launch of an indigenous 4G technology service under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Jharsuguda, Odisha.
As part of the initiative, 92,633 BSNL towers were inaugurated across India, including 9,020 towers in Maharashtra.
The Pune event was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Raksha Khadse, Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil, Minister of State for Urban Development Madhuri Misal, Bharti Airtel Chairman Sunil Mittal, MP Medha Kulkarni, BSNL Chief General Manager Harinder Kumar, and DoT Special Director General R.K. Goyal, among others.
Highlighting the benefits of the digital transformation, CM Fadnavis said:
“With 4G technology reaching millions across the country and the state, the Maharashtra government’s 1,100 online services will benefit greatly. Citizens will be able to track the status of their applications from home. Within two months, 90% of the services required by citizens will be digitalized. Applicants will have full information about where their file stands. If there is any delay, they can file a complaint against the concerned officer. With this technology, the implementation of the Right to Service Act will be truly effective.”
Deputy CM Eknath Shinde expressed satisfaction over BSNL’s revival and growth. “By developing indigenous 4G technology, we are taking major steps toward Digital India. This success story of BSNL will be noteworthy,” he said.
Emphasizing the link between infrastructure and technology, CM Fadnavis added:
“For village development, not only roads but connectivity is equally important. Prime Minister Modi ensured efforts were made to set up mobile towers in every village. When the internet reaches a village, it connects that village to the world.
Connectivity is crucial for health and education. Farmers can be alerted about weather changes, saving them from losses. Through smart villages, all systems can be improved. Connectivity is vital for industries, agriculture, and markets. It brings transparency to governance and transforms systems. Technology ensures an unbiased system.”
