Pune Drugs Menace: Nigerian National Arrested in Kondhwa for Selling Mephedrone

Kondhwa, 27th September 2025: The Pune Crime Branch’s Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) arrested a Nigerian national in Kondhwa for allegedly selling mephedrone. Police seized 62 grams of the drug worth ₹12.44 lakh, along with two mobile phones and a two-wheeler, taking the total seizure value to ₹12.94 lakh.

The accused has been identified as Valentine alias James Amuche Ezeja (35), a Nigerian citizen currently residing in Yewalewadi, Kondhwa.

According to officials, ANC teams were patrolling the Yewalewadi area when they received a tip-off that the accused would arrive to sell mephedrone. A trap was laid, and the suspect was spotted on a two-wheeler waiting for someone. Finding his movements suspicious, police detained him and recovered the contraband during a search. His vehicle and two mobile phones were also confiscated.

Investigators are now probing to identify the intended buyers and the source of the narcotics.

The operation was conducted under the guidance of DCP (Crime) Nikhil Pingale and ACP Vijay Kumbhar, and executed by PI Prashant Annachhatre, API Anil Survase, PSI Dingbar Kokate, and team members Sandeep Shirke, Maruti Pardhi, Vishal Dalvi, Rehana Shaikh, Dayanand Telange, Sarjerao Sargar, Vinayak Dalvi, Nagnath Rakh, Vipul Gaikwad, and Akshay Shirke.
