Pune: Accused Assault Police, Vandalize Crime Branch Office in Pimpri Chinchwad

Pimpri Chinchwad, 13th January 2025: A recent incident of a police constable being assaulted in Pune’s Magarpatta area has gone viral on social media and remains fresh in everyone’s minds. Amidst this, another incident involving three police constables from the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate (PCPC) in Pune has occurred.
The incident took place on Saturday at 5:30 PM in Nigdi when police constables intervened in a fight. The accused responded by assaulting the constables with punches and kicks. Furthermore, when detained, the accused vandalized the police establishment.
Police have arrested three individuals: Pramod Prakash Sakhare (26, resident of Ravet), Vaibhav Bhausaheb Tupe (28), and Ajay Babasaheb Pol (21), both residents of Nigdi. A case has been registered against all three at Nigdi Police Station.
According to police reports, Police Constable Praveen Kamble and his partner were patrolling the Nigdi area when they observed the accused fighting. Upon intervention, the accused conspired and attacked the police, repeatedly beating Constable Kamble on the ground. They also threatened another policeman by pointing a finger at him.
Upon receiving information about the incident, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sandeep Doiphode, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime 1) Vishal Hire, Senior Police Inspector Vijay Dhamal in charge of Property Cell (Crime Branch), and Senior Police Inspector Shatrughan Mali, in charge of Nigdi Police Station, reached the spot.
When the accused were taken into custody and brought to the Crime Branch office, they attempted to pressure the officers. Accused Pramod Sakhare and Vaibhav Tupe banged their heads against the wall and vandalized items in the Crime Branch office. They also threatened the police. The Nigdi police are currently investigating the case.
