Pune: Notorious Criminal and Minor Accomplices Detained for Multiple Thefts in Pimpri Chinchwad

Pimpri Chinchwad, 13th January 2025: A notorious history-sheeter criminal and his three minor accomplices have been found guilty of gold chain theft and vehicle theft. The police have arrested the history-sheeter and taken two minors into custody, while another minor is absconding. Goods worth Rs 7,74,860 have been seized from them, and nine crimes have been uncovered.
The action was taken by the Property Cell of the Crime Branch of Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate (PCPC). The arrested accused has been identified as Akash Wazir Rathod (age 24, resident of Mulshi).
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sandeep Doiphode said there were cases of gold chain theft within the PCPC limits. While investigating, the police monitored the movements of notorious repeat offenders and examined CCTV footage from crime scenes. During this process, they obtained information about the history-sheeter criminal Akash. Following that, the police detained and interrogated him, during which he confessed to committing the crimes with the help of three other accomplices, said DCP Doiphode.
DCP Doiphode stated that the accused has been involved in cases of gold chain theft in the Ravet, Nigdi, Chikhali, and Alandi areas, as well as vehicle theft in the Chakan area. Gold ornaments worth Rs 7,74,860 and three stolen two-wheelers have been seized from him. Accused Akash has 21 cases registered against him in various police stations, informed DCP Doiphode.
The police have detained two of the minor accomplices, and a search is ongoing for the third. Further investigation into the case is underway.
