Pune: Action Against 283 People Who Wrote Names Like ‘Dada’, ‘Nana’ Etc On Their Number Plates

Pune, 25th August 2022: The Transport Department has taken action against 283 people who wrote names like Dada, Nana, and Kaka on the number plates of vehicles including policemen, Press, and VIPs and a fine of nearly Rs two lakh 25 thousand has been recovered from them in 10 days.

 

Pune Traffic Police took action against 283 vehicles without number plates as per rules between August 11 to August 21. Also, this action will continue in the future as well, and those whose number plates are not as per the rules should do so as per the rules; Otherwise, penal action will be taken. Such an appeal has also been made by the Pune Traffic Police.

 

The Maharashtra Government’s Home Department has ordered strict action against private two-wheelers and four-wheelers who use such logos or names. Bombay High Court has given the decision stating that apart from government vehicles, a vehicle owner cannot write the name of Government of Maharashtra, Government of India, national emblem, a replica of various army insignia, and police on any private vehicle nor can the police put up police insignia or placards.

Meanwhile, in the order given by the court, nothing should be written on the number plates of the vehicles. But, it is seen that some citizens are flagrantly violating this order.

 

Due to this, such vehicles easily escape the police check. However, now those drivers will be charged as per Section 134(6) of the Maharashtra Motor Vehicle Act 2013 and Section 77.
