Kharadi, 25th August 2022: For two months, a variety of waste and garbage is being disposed of in an open area in front of residential societies in Kharadi, leaving the residents vulnerable to diseases, especially during the monsoon season, and subjecting them to the unpleasant odour that comes from the dump 24 hours a day.

This area is precisely in front of the balconies of residential society where children usually play and sit-out areas for residents are established. It is also right behind the Nova IVF Fertility centre.

Chirag Patel, a resident of Fortune East, said, “This garbage dump is in front of our society, and in the monsoon season, because of the heavy rains, this garbage dump becomes a breeding ground for mosquitoes and other insects. Because of this, the children and elderly become the prey of a lot of diseases and often fall sick. This garbage heap is located in the Hyundai showroom’s newly created parking area, beside the Motherhood Hospital and behind the Nova IVF Fertility Centre in Kharadi.”

‘”But the hardest hits are the locals and residents here. Given the terrible smell that is coming from the location, we are unable to open our windows. Plus, there are major health dangers to our children as well as the residents,” said Sachin Thakre, a resident.

Vikram Bansal, a resident who had also raised this issue with the PMC, said, “Our request is only to remove this garbage dump which is more dangerous at this time of the rainy season and could be a cause of viral diseases in children and residents of society located in front of it. Many complaints have been raised with PMC Care. We have all the complaint numbers with us. They booked the complaints and came to see as well but have not taken action against this issue.’’
