Khadakwasla, 18th September 2023: The Haveli police in Pune district has taken penal action against 16 heavy dumpers for violating the order issued by the Pune District Collector five years ago to suspend heavy traffic on the Kirkatwadi-Nandoshi road at certain times in the morning and evening.

The police have taken action after drawing the attention of the administration in Kirkatwadi due to heavy traffic. The traffic jam was causing inconvenience to students, parents, local residents, and employees.

The District Collector issued the order in 2018 to stop heavy traffic on the road till 11 am and after 5 pm. However, the order was not being implemented properly.

MP Supriya Sule also demanded action from the Collector and Superintendent of Police as citizens were being inconvenienced.

Many of the dumper drivers are under the influence of alcohol and do not even have a driving license. Even at night, the dumpers continue to come and go. Many accidents have occurred on the Kirkatwadi-Nandoshi road due to dumpers.

The citizens are demanding that the police investigate the dumper drivers and take action.

“Police personnel are being deployed every morning and evening and action is being taken against the dumpers who break the rules. So far penal action has been taken against 16 dumpers. Henceforth, action will be taken continuously,” said Sachin Wangde, Police Inspector, Haveli Police Station, Pune Rural.
