Pune: After Deadly Pahalgam Terror Attack; Six Women From Shirur Safely Return Home

Shirur, 26th April 2025: In a tragic terror attack in the scenic town of Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir, 28 tourists lost their lives, and more than 20 others were injured. Among those caught in the turmoil were six women tourists from Kondhapuri village in Shirur taluka of Maharashtra, prompting widespread concern among their families and local residents.
The six women—Manisha Gaikwad, Tejal Gaikwad, Dipali Gaikwad, Lalita Adak, Dipali Lokhande, and Rupali Tambe—had left for Kashmir on April 15 for a leisure trip. They were scheduled to return home on Friday (25th April) but the sudden outbreak of violence left their families anxious. Bhaskar Gaikwad, a family member, was informed via phone that the group had reached Srinagar safely.
Following the attack, Bhaskar Gaikwad contacted Shirur BJP Taluka President Jayesh Shinde, who then reached out to Union Minister of State Murlidhar Mohol and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Both leaders acted promptly, facilitating the women’s safe return to Mumbai by air, and eventually back to Kondhapuri.
Former MLA Advocate Ashok Pawar also extended his support by calling the stranded tourists, offering them reassurance. Additionally, Kondhapuri’s former sarpanch Swapnil Gaikwad contacted MP Supriya Sule, informing her of the situation. MP Sule followed up and provided further assistance and moral support.
Expressing their gratitude, the women thanked the government and all the leaders involved in ensuring their safety. “We are all safe and back home,” they said, adding heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped during the crisis.
