Pune: After Inter-Caste Marriage, Girl’s Mother And Maternal Relatives Attempt To Kidnap Her

Dhayari, 21st June 2021: A married woman faced a kidnapping attempt by her mother and uncle along with her brother for marrying out of her caste. The incident happened on Dhayari Road.

The 22-year-old woman has lodged a complaint with Sinhgad road police station against her mother, uncle, brother, and two friends of the mother.

According to police, the complainant had an inter-caste marriage which was opposed by her maternal relatives. Hence, they had decided to kidnap her. On 20th June, in the evening, the victim was travelling via a rickshaw with her mother-in-law and sister-in-law when her maternal relatives blcked the rickshaw with their car.

They tried to pull her out of the rikshaw and beat up mother-in-law and sister-in-law as they came to her help. They tried taking her away by putting her into the car but she rescued herself by jumping from the car. The victim then went to the police and filed a complaint.

Police have filed an FIR in this regard and further investigation is being carried out.
