Pune Air Force Station Celebrates 50th Year Of Victory In 1971 War

Lohegaon, 8th October 2021: India is celebrating 50th Anniversary of the Nation’s victory in the 1971 War. The event was inaugurated by our PM Narendra Modi on Vijay Diwas, 16th December 2020, by lighting four ‘Victory Flames’ from thr eternal flame of the National War Memorial and dispatched across the nation in four cardinal directions.

The ‘Victory Flame’ is being taken to major cantonments across the towns and villages from where the brave hearts of the 1971 War hail

It was a matter of pride and honour for Air Force Station, Pune to host the ‘Victory Mashal’ on 07th and 08th October, which coincided with the 89th anniversary of the Indian Air Force. On 07th Octobe, Air Commodore Hirendra Assudani, Air Officer Commanding, Air Force Station, Pune, received the ‘Victory Mashal’.

Thereafter, the entire Indian Air Force contingent travelled with the ‘Victory Mashal’ through all prominent areas of the Air Force Base and the contingent was welcomed by Station Personnel along with Ladies and Children, who had lined up enthusiastically all along the route. Finally, the ‘Victory Mashal’ was placed at the War Memorial of the Air Force Base wherein, a Ceremonial Wreath was laid by Air Officer Commanding, Air Force Station, Pune.

Today, a function was organised at the Base wherein the War Awardees of 1971 war were felicitated in a befitting ceremony.
