Pune: PCMC’s Air Pollution Control Team Imposes Heavy Fines in Recent Crackdown

Pimpri-Chinchwad, 23rd November 2023: In a swift and assertive move to combat air pollution, the Air Pollution Control Team carried out a series of inspections across various wards, resulting in substantial fines totalling Rs. 2,17,753 in a single day. The enforcement actions targeted businesses and establishments contributing to air pollution, showcasing the team’s commitment to enforcing environmental regulations.

Ward A witnessed targeted interventions, with fines amounting to Rs. 18,593 collected from businesses, including hotels and bakeries. Specifically, Rs. 10,000 was imposed on ten establishments in the ward, with an additional Rs. 8,593 levied in other enforcement actions. This highlights the team’s comprehensive approach to curbing air pollution by addressing various sources in the area.

Moving on to B Ward, the Air Pollution Control Team recovered Rs. 41,160 in fines across seven locations. Notably, notices were issued for non-compliance at two places during inspections, signalling a proactive stance against violations.

The inspection drive continued in C Ward, where the team visited ten locations. A total fine of Rs. 15,000 was collected, and notices were served to three establishments for failing to adhere to pollution control instructions. This demonstrates the team’s dedication to maintaining stringent standards across diverse sectors.

Notably, there were no collections made in the D Ward.

E Ward’s Air Pollution Control Team took action against three establishments, imposing a fine of Rs. 10,000. Notices were issued to three places, and penal measures were initiated against two individuals for non-compliance, reinforcing the team’s commitment to holding both businesses and individuals accountable.

F Ward witnessed a thorough inspection of 35 locations, resulting in a significant fine collection of Rs. 1,25,000. The team took action against nine persons for violations and ensured that environmental guidelines were strictly followed.

G Ward’s efforts led to the collection of a Rs. 3,000 fine from 15 inspected places. Notably, action was taken against non-compliance in six locations, highlighting the team’s targeted approach to address specific sources of pollution.

Lastly, the Air Pollution Control Team in H Ward recovered a fine of Rs. 5,000 after inspecting four places. A notice for non-compliance was issued at one location, underlining the team’s commitment to ensuring adherence to environmental regulations.
