Pune airport slips to 78th position in passenger services ranking
Pune, 3rd November 2021: Once apprised as ‘best airport’, by size and sub-category for passenger footfall, Pune airport has lost its ranking from 60th position to 78th position in recently done third quarter survey of Airport Service Quality (ASQ).
The survey was done between July 1 to September 30. The survey was done by Airports Council International.
Interestingly, in the first quarter survey the Pune airport was adjudged as ‘best airport by size and passenger footfall which was 5 to 15 million per annum. During the first quarter survey it was ranked at 154th position. It was done in January-March.
Currently, the airport operates only for 12 hours a day due to its resurfacing work. The airport is closed between 8 pm to 8 am. It is expected that from December 1 onwards, the airport will function to its full capacity i.e 24 hour a day.
One of the officials from Airport on the condition of anonymity said, “the ranking has slipped due to its closure, repair work and functional operation”.
The airport received negative markings in 33 parameters related to passenger services.
