Viman Nagar, 4th March 2025: Starting March 5, all flights operating at Pune Airport will be shifted to the newly constructed terminal building, marking a major transition aimed at improving passenger facilities and streamlining operations.

Airport Director Santosh Dhoke confirmed the move, stating, “From 2 AM on March 5, the new terminal will handle 100% of flight operations. This is a significant step in upgrading infrastructure to enhance passenger convenience and ensure smoother airport functioning.”

Renovation of the Old Terminal Underway
The airport authorities have already awarded a contract for the renovation of the old terminal. Dhoke elaborated, “Before starting the actual work, the site needs to be cleared. In the initial phase, the arrival section of the old terminal will be converted into an additional departure area, and a new security hold area will be developed. The renovation process is expected to take around 6 to 8 months.”

The new terminal, which became partially operational last year, already handles more than 90% of flights. On average, the airport facilitates 190 to 195 flight movements daily.

Enhanced Passenger Capacity and Aerobridges
With 10 aerobridges now in place, the new terminal is designed to handle up to 9 million passengers annually. Dhoke advised travelers to stay updated with airline notifications and arrive early at the new terminal to avoid last-minute hassles.

Stray Dog Issue at Pune Airport
On the issue of stray dogs on the airport premises, Dhoke stated that the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has initiated measures to address the problem. The matter gained attention after a stray dog was run over by a SpiceJet aircraft during taxiing on February 13, prompting the airport authorities to request PMC’s intervention.
