Pune, 2nd May 2025: A formal inauguration of the new building of the Parshuram Economic Development Corporation took an unexpected turn on Thursday (1 May) when Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar arrived ahead of schedule and completed the ribbon-cutting ceremony before several invited dignitaries, including Member of Parliament Medha Kulkarni, had arrived.
The event was scheduled to be held at the Divisional Commissioner’s Office in Pune as part of Maharashtra Day celebrations. However, Pawar reportedly reached the venue early and went ahead with the inauguration, leaving key invitees without a chance to participate in the official proceedings.
Kulkarni, who said she arrived nearly 10 minutes before the scheduled time, expressed disappointment at discovering the ceremony had already concluded. Upon confronting Pawar, she reportedly said, “Dada, you inaugurated before 6:30 am,” to which Pawar replied, “I didn’t know. We can do it again.”
Speaking to the media after the incident, Kulkarni voiced her displeasure: “I reached 10 minutes early, but the inauguration took place 20 minutes before the scheduled time. That’s certainly not right. I appeal to Dada—please fix a clear time, whether morning or evening. Everyone invited as per protocol would have attended if it had been followed.”
Kulkarni, the only Brahmin MP from Pune, also expressed her interest in supporting the Parshuram Economic Development Corporation’s work. “All three of our leaders work tirelessly—they are our role models. My only request is that such events adhere to the scheduled time,” she concluded.
