Pune: AMAND Observes 83rd Nupi Lan Memorial Day With Event

Pune, 14th December 2022: The Association of Manipuri Diaspora (AMAND) Pune, observed the 83rd Nupi Lan Memorial Day where the members and families of AMAND paid homage and tribute to the bravery of the Women of Manipur who revolted against the British for their discriminatory and unjust policy. AMAND, registered under the Societies Registration Act 1860 at Pune, Maharashtra, is a non-profit, non-governmental community organization founded by working/retired Manipuri professionals who are residing in and
around Pune.

The function was held on Saturday (10th December) in association with SICEC (Symbiosis Ishanya Cultural and Educational Centre), at ELTIS Auditorium Pune.

L Rishikanta Meitei, Gen Secy, AMAND, welcomed Oinam Purnimashi Devi, the Chief Guest of the function, W. Satyabati Devi, Guest of Honour, Irom Jiten, VP of AMAND, and all other invitees and AMAND Families. Rishikanta narrated briefly about the incident of Nupi Lan of 1904 and 1939 in the history of Manipur which was followed by the
speeches of the Guest of Honour, Chief Guest and AMAND Vice President.

The program continued with a recitation by children and senior members of AMAND on Nupi Lan and sacrifices made by the brave mothers. Suresh Chingtham , IT and Publicity Secy, hosted a Quiz Programme on Nupi Lan to spread awareness of the history of Nupi Lan and the great uprising of the Women of Manipur. The prizes of quiz and recitation were sponsored by
nicabs, Imphal.

The winners of the AMAND Ningol Chakouba 2019 and 2022 selfie Contests were also accoladed during the program.

Reena Soubam conducted the program as MC. The program was concluded with vote of thanks by the Cultural and Sports Secy, Prakash Singh Khwairakpam.
