Pune: Software Engineer Duped Of Over Rs 96000 During Online Wine Purchase
Pune, 14th December 2022: A 25-year-old software engineer was duped of Rs 96,902 when she tried to order wine online. The Yerwada police are investigating the case.
She informed the police that when looking up a bottle of wine to order online, she came across a cell phone number and contacted it to start the ordering procedure.
She was persuaded to give her debit card information, and she was asked to transfer Rs 900 to reserve her order. He returned the call and said the funds had not been transferred. On a social networking site, he sent her a QR code and urged her to send money using UPI. The techie immediately input the one-time password after scanning the QR code without checking the amount. On October 10, the fraudster acquired access to her bank account and withdrew Rs 96,902 from it.
