Pune, July 9, 2020: On the direction of Pune District Collector Naval Kishore Ram, Regional Transport Office (RTO) has complained against Sanjeevani ambulance services for charging Rs 8,000 from a patient for taking him from Bibvewadi to Deenanath Mangeshkar hospital, a distance of seven kilometres.

Based on the complaint from RTO inspector Dhananjay Gosavi, Bibvewadi police station under Pune city police has registered an FIR for an offence under section 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Sanjeevani ambulance service, Hadapsar, has been using the vehicle as ambulance instead of Mobile Clinic Van (as per RTO permission). Apart from misusing the permission, they also over-charged a patient (Rs 8000 for Bibvewadi to Deenanath hospital).

Rates for ambulance have been given by RTO, which need to be adhered by the ambulance services, and not take advantage of the COVID-19 scenario, DCP (crime) Bachchan Singh said.
