Pune: 150 employees at Amdocs BPO May Loose their Jobs, Labour Commission issues notice

Pune, April 14, 2020: In another case of keeping government order at bay and sacking employees, Amdocs BPO based in Phursungi, Pune, was today issued notice by the Maharashtra Labour Commission after receiving complaints of job losses.

Government Labour Officer DD Pawar issued the notice after getting a complaint from National Information Technology Employees Sena (NITES), a labour union. Vendors of Amdocs BPO had sent emails to employees on April 10th informing them that their jobs have been terminated. NITES founder Dr Raghunath Kuchik, Vice President Vivek Mestri and General Secretary Harpreet Saluja had complained to the Labour Commission office, Pune.

“We received complaints from people work at Amdocs BPO in Phursungi, Pune, that more than 150 employees have been sacked. The company is not replying to the queries of these employees. The company has not provided any relieving or experience letter to these employees. Under lockdown, the employees are unable to appear for interviews and join any other company. Hence it has become extremely difficult for these employees to survive. National Information Technology Employees Sena has submitted an official complaint to the Labour Commissioner Office Pune. Acting on the complaint of NITES Labour Commissioner Office Pune has issued a notice to the company”, said Harpreet Saluja, General Secretary, National Information Technology Employees Sena (NITES).

“We are daily receiving complaints from employees of various IT and ITES companies. Keeping in view the COVID-19 pandemic Central Government as well as State government has issued an advisory to all the establishments that no employee shall be terminated from a job and the wages shouldn’t be reduced. But a lot of IT companies are flouting the directions of the Central as well as State government”, Saluja added.
