Pune 22nd Sept 2023: The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Corporation Limited (MSEDCL) has revealed that a total of 119 ganesh mandals from Pune city and district have not applied to get the refund of security deposit they had paid to get temporary electricity connections last year. The details were revealed after the MSEDCL came across complaints from the ganesh mandals over the refund.
The Chief Engineer of MSEDCL for Pune division Rajendra Pawar had conducted a meeting over the issue and had instructed the officials to expedite the process to refund the security deposit amount to the ganesh mandals. The officials were instructed to complete the process of refund within a two months period. However, it has been revealed that many of the ganesh mandals have not applied for refund.
According to officials, a total of 204 ganesh mandals from Pune, Pimpri Chinchwad, Mulshi, Khed and Maval had taken temporary electricity connections in 2022. “The ganesh mandals are needed to apply online for the refund of the security deposit and they need to submit the credentials for their bank accounts to get the refund. A total of 37 ganesh mandals had applied for the refund of Rs 3,02,167 and their applications were approved. Accordingly, the refund was provided to 7 ganesh mandals and a process to refund the security deposit of other ganesh mandals is underway. The security deposit of 62 ganesh mandals was freezed after they failed to make payment of the pending electricity bill of Rs 4,67,785” said MSEDCL officials.
A total of 119 ganesh mandals are yet to apply for a refund of Rs 6,11,862 due to which their process of refund of security deposits is pending. The MSEDCL officials are contacting the concerned members of these ganesh mandals and they will be provided help to apply for refund. The ganesh mandals are requested to visit the concerned offices to apply for refund, said officials.
