Pune, 5th February 2024: Pune City Police are set to register another FIR in the ongoing investigation into the murder of the infamous gangster, Sharad Mohol. This decision comes after the discovery that social media posts, specifically targeting Mohol and his wife, have surfaced. Mohol was fatally shot near his residence in the Sutardara area of Kothrud on January 5, coinciding with his wedding anniversary.

The murder case has already led to the arrest of 17 individuals, with the Pune Police invoking the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA). One of the apprehended suspects is Munna Santosh Polekar, also known as Sahil, who was associated with Mohol’s gang.

Speaking to Punekar News, an officer from the Crime Branch stated, “An Instagram account in the name of Polekar is active, and our investigation aims to determine if more individuals are linked to the murder case. The account has posted some offensive messages.”

Furthermore, Mohol’s wife, Swati, associated with BJP since April last year, has received death threats on social media, purportedly from Polekar. She has reported these threats, along with concerns about her safety, to the police.

In response to these developments, Investigating Officer ACP (Crime 1) Sunil Tambe informed Punekar News, “We were already aware of the social media posts containing offensive messages. A request for additional details has been submitted to Instagram two weeks ago. Another case will be registered soon.”
