Pune: Anuradha Paudwal bestowed with ‘Arun Date Kala Sanman’ Award

Pune, 11th May 2023: Acclaimed playback singer Anuradha Paudwal was bestowed with the ‘Arun Date Kala Sanman’ Award.

The award, jointly given by Ramubahiyya Date Smruti Pratishthan and P. N. Gadgil Exclusive, Nal Stop, is given on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Late Arun Date, a singer par excellence known for some all time great songs, and recognizes exemplary work related to music. Anuradha Paudwal was presented the award, comprising a citation and memento, by veteran violin player Ramakant Paranjape in the presence of Atul Arun Date, Abhay Gadgil, Deepa Gadgil of P N Gadgil Exclusive, Nal Stop, Manju Date on Thursday, during a special program ‘Shukratara’ at Yashwantrao Chavan auditorium in Kothrud.

Anuradha Paudwal said, “Arun Date is still there with us. He was a father figure and always backed me. He supported me through many instances in my life. The award is Arun Date’s blessing to me. I am getting this award in 50th year of my professional singing career, which is even more special. While I used to do programs with Aru Bhaiya, people used to demand Hindi songs, since songs of Ashique and Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahi were popular that time, and he used to encourage me to sing one. I suggested the name Shukrata to Arun Date, based on his popular song and since then Aru Bhaiya did all the programs with the name Shukratara. In short, I rechristened the program “.

Meanwhile, iconic songs of Arun Date were also presented by singers during the program, in which Anuradha Paudwal also presented a couple of songs.

Another acclaimed singer Anuradha Marathe was also presented with the second ‘Arun Date Kala Sanman’ Award on Wednesday at P.N Gadgil Exclusive, Nal Stop.

Anuradha Marathe said, “I believe a famed singer like Arun Date accepting me as his co-singer was itself my honour. I used to listen to his songs since childhood and it was a dream come true moment for me, when I met him for the first time. Then I was also fortunate to perform with him in shows all over the world Arun Date praised his co-singers, a rarity for any artist and he treated every artist with respect. A singer par excellence Arun Date was also a foodie.”
