Pune: Armed Robbers Strike In Village Near Wagholi, Loot Gold Ornaments and Cash Worth Rs 16.3 Lakhs

Wagholi, 3rd April 2024: A terrifying incident of armed robbery took place in the dead of night at a residence in Bivari village, situated in the Lonikand area along Pune-Ahmednagar road. The assailants, brandishing weapons, subjected the occupants to a harrowing ordeal, making off with gold ornaments and cash amounting to Rs 16.3 lakhs.

Prashant Vilas Gote, a 40-year-old resident of Bivari village in the Haveli taluka, lodged a complaint at the Lonikand police station, Pune city police, regarding the incident. According to Gote’s account, the brazen robbery occurred in the wee hours of the night when he and his family were fast asleep.

At approximately 2:30 AM, a group of seven to eight individuals descended upon Gote’s residence, armed with sharp weapons. Breaking into the house forcibly, the robbers awakened the Gote family from their slumber. Threats and intimidation followed as the assailants brandished knives and other weapons.

Ransacking the bedroom wardrobe, the robbers made off with a substantial sum of cash and valuable jewelry amounting to five lakhs. The situation escalated as the robbers resorted to physical violence, assaulting Prashant Gote’s sister and subjecting his mother to a brutal beating.

In a bid to evade detection, the robbers smashed the mobile phones belonging to the Gote family before fleeing the scene.

Kailas Kare, Senior Police Inspector of Lonikand Police Station, confirmed the incident and revealed that teams of police personnel have been deployed to track down the robbers who are currently at large.
