Pune, 13th January 2022: Fearing hospitalisation by the government authorities and the cost of COVID test at private labs, many people are buying corona test kits from medical stores for checking samples at home. However, they are not informing the authorities.

To stop such practice, the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) has directed the chemists to maintain records of people buying Coronavirus disease (COVID) test kits.

“A record containing name, address, mobile number, kit details should be maintained. The records will be checked by drug inspectors and also had to be furnished when demanded by medical officers”, states the order issued by FDA Joint Commissioner (Drugs) SB Patil of Pune division.

He further added, “The customer buying the COVID test kit should be asked to inform the local (ward) medical officer if the result is positive.”
