Pune: Assistant Police Inspector Caught Demanding Rs 2 Lakh Bribe From Labour Contractor

Pune, 16th June 2022: The officials from the anti-corruption bureau (ACB), Pune unit, have arrested an assistant police inspector (API) of Pune rural police for allegedly demanding Rs two lakh bribe from a labour contractor.

An FIR has been registered against the accused API Devidas Hiraman Karande at Ranjangaon MIDC police station. He has been charged with offences under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

According to police, the complainant has a labour contract with a private company located in the Ranjangaon MIDC area. He had sought help from the API for recovery of dues from the company and not to take action against him.

After getting a complaint from the contractor, the ACB verified the complaint and arrested the police officer today evening.
