Pune: Audio clip about woman’s suicide case goes viral, Fadnavis demands thorough probe

Pune, February 12, 2021: A 22-year-old girl died of suicide in Pune’s Wanowrie area on Sunday morning. An audio clip of a person, positioned close to the young woman, has gone viral, in which, the person can be heard saying, “The girl is going to commit suicide. Please talk to her.” But it is not clear who the person is talking to. The incident has sparked a debate in political circles.
Pooja Chavan, a native of Parli, died of suicide in Pune on Sunday, midnight. The girl was living with her brother in Hadapsar for education. She jumped from the third floor of Heaven Park Society in the Mohammadwadi around one o’clock on Sunday midnight. The girl died on the way to the hospital. The next day, there were discussions on social media about her suicide.
An audio clip has gone viral. When questioned, Deepak Lagad, police inspector at the Wanowrie police station, said the matter was under investigation.
“I also read the news of this case. This case is extremely serious. I have also been told that some clips are circulating on social media. I expect the Pune police to investigate the matter thoroughly. The police should not try to suppress the suicide of a young woman. In this regard, the truth should be brought out by the police,” said Devendra Fadnavis, Leader of Opposition in the Assembly.
