Aundh, 23rd November 2025: A leopard sighted on CCTV inside a housing society in Aundh early Sunday triggered an extensive search operation by the Pune Forest Department and RESQ Charitable Trust teams.

The footage, recorded around 4 am, showed the animal moving through a residential lane, prompting authorities to launch a coordinated tracking effort across Sindh Society, Bremen Chowk and adjoining pockets.

“We received information about a leopard being captured on CCTV near RBI Staff Quarters and Sindh Society, Aundh early this morning. Our teams are on ground, fully equipped and working to track and safely capture the animal,” said Pune Forest Department’s DCF Mahadev Mohite.

Officials have deployed thermal drones, motion trackers and other advanced tools to sweep the area systematically. So far, no confirmed sighting has been reported after the initial 4 am footage, but teams continue to maintain heightened vigilance.

Mohite urged residents to cooperate and follow safety guidelines. “Citizens should stay alert but not panic. Avoid sharing rumours or unverified messages. In case of any suspicious movement, please report it immediately on the 1926 helpline,” he said.

Authorities said the search will continue until the leopard is safely located.
