Pune: Total Traffic Block on Sinhagad Fort Ghat From Nov 24–26 for Cycle Race Preparations
Khadakwasla, 24th November 2025: Traffic movement on the Sinhagad Ghat route will be completely shut from November 24 to 26 as the district administration begins asphalting work ahead of the ‘Pune Grand Challenge Tour Cycle Competition-2026’. The decision follows reports submitted by the Executive Engineer of the Public Works Department and the Superintendent of Police (Pune Rural).
According to the order issued by District Collector Jitendra Dudi, the stretch between Golewadi Chowk and Sinhagad Ghat (Kondhanpur side) will remain fully closed for two days. Officials said the closure is necessary to ensure the safety of participants as well as the smooth execution of the roadwork.
The move will affect thousands of tourists and local commuters who travel daily to Sinhagad Fort. All tourist traffic to the fort has been halted for the duration of the work. Traffic from Panshet, Khanapur, Donje and Atkarwadi towards Khed-Shivapur via Sinhagad Ghat will also remain suspended.
To avoid congestion and ensure uninterrupted movement, the administration has advised residents of the affected areas to use the Donje Chowk–Khadakwasla–Kirkatwadi–Nanded City–Vadgaon–Dhayari route connecting to the Pune–Bengaluru Highway (NH-48).
The closure will be enforced from midnight on November 24 until midnight on November 26. The District Collector has urged citizens to cooperate with the administration and follow the announced diversions for their own safety and to facilitate timely completion of the work.
