Pune: Autorickshaw Driver Booked for Molesting AFMC Cadet
Wanowrie, 23rd April 2023: An autorickshaw driver has been booked for allegedly molesting a 22-year-old student of the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune. The incident occurred when the victim was returning to her hostel with her friend. The accused is still at large.
According to the First Information Report (FIR) registered at Wanowrie police station, the incident took place on April 16 around 11.45 pm near Wanowrie traffic division located near Race Course. The case was registered yesterday after the victim filed a complaint.
The victim recounted that she and her friend had gone to a hotel in Koregaon Park for food and were returning to the hostel in an autorickshaw. When they reached near the traffic police checkpost, her friend was not feeling well, so they stopped the autorickshaw and got out for a while. When they got back into the autorickshaw, the driver caught the victim’s waist and pressed it. When the victim questioned him, he claimed he was trying to help her. Earlier, while getting down from the autorickshaw, he had also abused the victim’s friend.
The police have registered an FIR against the accused under sections 354 (outraging modesty of a woman) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Police Sub Inspector Pramod Kharbade is investigating the case further.
