Pune Aviation Businessman Receives Rs 5 Crore Extortion Threat from Pakistani Number, Investigation On

Koregaon Park, 10th April 2025: A 38-year-old aviation businessman from Pune has allegedly received an extortion demand of ₹5 crore via voice messages originating from a Pakistani phone number. The Pune Police Crime Branch and Cyber Cell have launched a joint investigation into the matter.
The businessman, who resides on Boat Club Road, runs a private aviation company that rents helicopters and aircraft. He also has active business interests in Dubai and the United Kingdom.
According to the complaint, the businessman first received a voice message through a messaging app on February 25 from an international number associated with Pakistan. The caller demanded a payment in connection with an upcoming helicopter purchase. This was followed by a more threatening message claiming access to the businessman’s personal information and warning of “serious consequences” if the amount was not paid.
Further threatening messages were received on February 28 and March 16. Concerned for his safety and the nature of the threats, the businessman approached the police and lodged an official complaint.
Investigators suspect the use of proxy servers or spoofed IP addresses to conceal the identity and location of the caller. Authorities are working to trace the source of the messages and determine the motive behind the extortion attempt.
Police have assured that all angles are being explored and that the businessman’s safety is being prioritized as the probe continues.
