Pune, 25th May 2023: Motorists in Pune city will face fines for parking violations, with penalties ranging from Rs 785 to Rs 2,071 depending on the offence. Parking in no-parking areas will result in fines of Rs 785 for the first violation and Rs 1,711 for the second offence. Subsequent violations will incur fines of Rs 1,785 and Rs 2,071 respectively. These measures are designed to create pressure on individuals who persistently park their vehicles in restricted zones.

However, the enforcement of these fines often leads to disputes between motorists and the police. Recognizing this issue, the Pune traffic police has issued a notice specifying the fine amounts in accordance with the Motor Vehicle Act.

To streamline the payment process, it is important to note that traffic police officers do not accept cash as payment for fines. QR code options for payment, as well as UPI payments, are not available on e-challan machines. Therefore, penalties can only be paid using debit and credit cards.

According to police, when a vehicle is lifted from a no-parking area, motorists must settle any pending fines before paying the new penalty. This means that at least two fine amounts must be paid during the process. It is crucial for motorists to understand that the traffic police cannot modify the payment system.

During penal action by the traffic police, disputes and allegations occasionally arise between motorists and police officers. It is worth emphasizing that traffic police officials only accept fine payments through debit and credit cards. Therefore, citizens are urged to cooperate by obeying traffic rules and regulations, appealed Vijayakumar Magar, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Pune City Traffic Branch.
