Pune: Azmeer, Ruma win titles at MSLTA Mahatennis Deccan Gymkhana AITA U-18 Super Series Tennis Tournament
Pune, 13 May 2022: Azmeer Shaikh of Navi Mumbai and Ruma Gaikawari of Pune won the boys and the girls singles title at the MSLTA Mahatennis Deccan Gymkhana AITA Under 18 Super Series Tennis Tournament which will be organized by Deccan Gymkhana and Maha Tennis Under the auspices of MSLTA and AITA which concluded at the Deccan Gymkhana Tennis Courts today
In the boys finals Azmeer, 12th standard student of St.Wilfred School Navi Mumbai who also won the Maharashtra State under 17 Tennis Championships held at Nashik stopped the winning run of. Giant killer Nishit Rahane winning 7-6(4), 7-5
In the girls event top seeded Ruma Gaikwari who has just appeared for her 10th standard board exams outplayed Karnataka’s third seeded Sreenidhi Balaji 6-2, 6-1 to claim her first title of the year
Nishit Rahane pairing with Jay Dixit however claimed the. Boys doubles title toppling top seeded pair of Azmeer Shaikh and Sahil Tambat winning 6-4, 6-0;
In the Girls doubles Karnataka pair of N Harshini and Presha Shanthamoorthi foiled Ruma’s double crown effort as they registered a 6-2 ,7-5 win over top seeded pair of Ruma Gaikaiwari and Radhika Mahajan
The singles winner got a trophy, certificates and 50 AITA Points. The prizes were given away at the hands of Mr.Madan Gokhale coach Deccan Gymkhana, AITA Supervisor Leena Nageshkar and Tournament Director Prasanjeet Paul.
