Pune: Ban Lifted Against Action At Ambil Odha Slum Near Dandekar Bridge

Pune, 22 August 2021: Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) now can take action against the slums at survey no. 133 and 135 near Dandekar bridge at Ambil Odha. The court has lifted the ban which will now allow PMC to take action.
PMC through a private contractor will be implementing the Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) project on 2.5 acres of land along with channelizing of the odha. PMC through public notice had appealed to the slum dwellers to move from this place. Later, PMC took action against the encroachment at the slums which came under fire from all quarters of society.
A petition was filed against PMC for the action and it was stalled. Now, the court has lifted this ban allowing PMC to take action.
Ambil Odha Action committee member Anant Gharat said, “If the court has lifted the ban we will go to the high court to appeal against the district court’s order”.
