Pune Bandh Held Without Any Untoward Incident, Police Commissioner Lauds Participants For Maintaining Law And Order

Pune, 13th December 2022: An all-party Pune bandh was called on today to protest against the derogatory remarks made against Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Against this background, no untoward incident took place due to the deployment of security by the police at various places.

 

Officials of all opposition parties, along with citizens, cooperated with the police administration. Police Commissioner Amitabh Gupta informed that during the bandh, 100 officers and over 1000 staff, police officials in plain clothes, and various teams kept tight security.

 

At around 9.30 am, the rally started by worshipping the statue of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj at Deccan corner. At that time, from the perspective of law and order, the officers and police personnel of the police station, along with Joint Commissioner of Police Sandeep Karnik, Additional Commissioner Namdev Chavan, Deputy Commissioner of Police Sandeep Singh Gill had personally come down to the streets and planned the arrangement.

 

Meanwhile, 50 officers and 350 staff were appointed as the all-party march would pass through Zone One. Apart from that, 50 officers from the Crime Branch, Headquarters, various squads, and 600 to 650 staff were appointed for security.

 

Amitabh Gupta, Commissioner of Police, Pune City, said, “A tight security was maintained by the police during the bandh in the city. In particular, the local police, crime branch, and other departments performed their duties well. The citizens cooperated as per the appeal made by the police. The bandh was conducted peacefully, without any untoward incident.”

 

As a precautionary measure during the bandh, police personnel in plain clothes also kept a close watch. Hence, no untoward incident took place. The police stations, the crime branch, and other squads were properly equipped. Precautions were also taken by the Traffic branch.

 

Commissioner of Police Amitabh Gupta and Joint Commissioner Sandeep Karnik have appreciated all the officers and staff for maintaining proper arrangements.
