Pune: Bangladeshi National Arrested in Pimpri Chinchwad for Illegal Stay Under Three Identities
Bhosari, 25th February 2025: Pimpri Chinchwad Police have arrested a Bangladeshi national who had been illegally residing in India under three different identities. The arrest took place on 23rd February around 8:30 PM in Bhosari.
The accused, identified as Nayan Ratan Sarkar, 21, originally from Narail District, Bangladesh, was found in possession of documents bearing two additional names: Rakesh Ratan Sarkar from Nadia District, West Bengal, and Sumit Shankar Bhakta from Nadia District, West Bengal.
Sarkar had illegally entered India through West Bengal from Bangladesh and was currently residing in a labour camp in Dighi. He was also working at a food canteen. He had come to Pune for work.
The arrest occurred during a routine police checkpoint operation conducted by Bhosari Police between 6 PM and 9 PM. Officers noticed a suspicious motorcyclist and upon questioning, found discrepancies in his statements. A search of his bag revealed documents with different names and confirmed his Bangladeshi nationality.
Among the documents discovered were an Indian voter card from Nadia, West Bengal, and a certificate from a school in Narail, Bangladesh.
A case has been registered against Sarkar at Bhosari Police Station. He had been living illegally in Pimpri-Chinchwad for the past year. The court has granted police custody of Sarkar for three days. Police Sub-Inspector Shrikant Gurav is leading the investigation.
