Pune-Based Indrani Balan Foundation Signs MoU With Indian Army For Financial Sustainability Of Army Goodwill Schools In Kashmir

Srinagar/Pune, February 25, 2021: Punit Balan began his ‘NATION FIRST’ initiative under the Indrani Balan Foundation by entering into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Army’s Chinar Corps in Srinagar.

In an event conducted at Srinagar, the MoUs were exchanged between Lieutenant General BS Raju, Chinar Corps Commander and Punit Balan, President of Indrani Balan Foundation. Also present on the occasion was Janhavi R Dhariwal, Vice President of Indrani Balan Foundation.

The foundation shall actively participate in the financial, technical and educational assistance to the schools. The MoU begins for four Army Goodwill Schools (AGS) in Uri, Wayne, Trehgam, Hajinar and one school in Baramulla – Pariwar School for special children.

Srinagar-based Chinar Corps currently runs 28 Goodwill schools in Kashmir which educates more than 10,000 students annually. About one lakh students have passed out from these esteemed institutions. This initiative of the Indrani Balan Foundation will be an example for other corporates to come forward and contribute meaningfully to building prosperous Kashmir.

General Officer Commanding (GOC) Chinar Corps Lieutenant General BS Raju expressed his happiness and gratitude to Punit Balan for having come forward to participate in the vision of rebuilding Kashmir. He specially complimented Balan for his vision, foresight and initiative to invest in nation-building as a social responsibility.

Indrani Balan Foundation has been providing aid to schools in Maharashtra in terms of donating computers, books, cycles, scholarships with the focus being on empowering educational institutions who are the creators of young India. These children will be our empowered foundations and hence Nation First is the initiative under which the foundation has entered into MOU with the Army.

Kashmir has had a troubled past and Balan said that to invest in laying the foundations for the mental well being of children is vital when it comes to this young bright future for the nation. He also expressed satisfaction for having got the opportunity to get the chance of working on the project with the Indian Army. This being the beginning, he has other plans for the region which shall begin in a phased manner.
