Pune: Bavdhan, Kothrud Motorists Get Respite With New Chandani Chowk Underpass And Ramp
Pune, 12th April 2023: Ramp and underpass at Chandani Chowk have opened, providing great relief to motorists from Bavdhan and Kothrud. The underpass, connecting Kothrud to Mulshi, and a ramp, connecting Bavdhan to Katraj, were opened on Monday, enabling drivers to bypass the busy Chandani Chowk junction.
On average, 16 lakh vehicles pass through this road every day, and NHAI claims that the road work is 90% complete and will meet the deadline of May 1 to fully open the road for vehicular traffic.
While the actual bridge at Chandani Chowk has not yet been inaugurated, the roads leading to it, including the service road from Kothrud and Warje towards Bavdhan and Mulshi under the tunnel, and the bridge from Bavdhan towards Satara road, have been inaugurated to reduce traffic congestion in the area, according to C S Krishnan, a member of Bavdhan Citizen Forum.
The opening of the ramp and underpass is a significant step towards streamlining traffic flow in Pune, particularly at Chandani Chowk.
