Pune-Bengaluru Distance To Be Reduced By 95 Km With Greenfield Corridor
Pune, 21st July 2022: Pune-Bengaluru greenfield corridor will reduce the distance between these two cities by 95 km. Moreover, the travel time will be reduced by four to five hours. The Greenfield Corridor will also have two five-km airstrips for an emergency landing.
There will be separate restrooms for drivers, parks for children to play, and hotels on the side of the highway. Big trees will also be planted on both sides of the highway. It will be the first national highway in the state to have an airstrip.
Nearly three thousand km of roads are being constructed under ‘Bharatmala’ project two on selected routes in the country. All these roads will be greenfield. It also includes the Pune-Bengaluru National Highway. The work of detailed project report (DPR) in Maharashtra is going to end in the next few days. The ongoing work in the state of Karnataka is also likely to be completed in the coming months.
The Greenfield Corridor is going to be a completely new expressway. It does not involve widening the old road. This is a completely new way. The
vehicles will run at a speed of 120 km per hour. There are four, six and eight layers. There will be trees on both sides of the road to reduce pollution.
“Preparation of DPR of the proposed Pune Bengaluru National Highway is in progress. As soon as this work is completed, the land acquisition work will be done. Only then will the actual work begin. Passengers will get various facilities on this route. Travel will be fast and safe,” said Sanjay Kadam, Project Director, National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), Pune.
How is the Pune-Bengaluru highway project?
1. Greenfield starts from Warwe Budruk
2. Six lanes
3. The entire road is asphalt. No use of cement.
4. 100 meters in width (larger than Pune-Mumbai Expressway)
5. 745 km route (now route 840 km)
6. This route will not go directly from other cities including Sangli, Satara, and Kolhapur.
7. Traffic congestion will not be affected
8. At a speed of 120 km per hour, Bengaluru can be reached in just seven to eight hours (now it takes 11 to 12 hours)
8. There will be a road from the toll station to the nearby villages
9. Due to access control, road vehicles will not be able to enter the highway directly. As a result accidents, and traffic jams will be avoided
10. There will be a five km airstrip near Pune and Bangalore to land the aircraft directly on the highway in case of emergency without disrupting the traffic.
11. The total cost of the project is about Rs 31,000 crores
