Pune: Bhimashankar Temple to Reopen for Darshan from June 15 After Five-Month Closure, Online Registration Starts June 5

Pune, 30th May 2026: The Shri Kshetra Bhimashankar Temple will reopen for devotees from June 15, 2026, following the completion of major infrastructure development works undertaken in preparation for the Simhastha Kumbh Mela scheduled to be held in Nashik in 2027.

The temple had remained closed for darshan since January 9, 2026, to facilitate the construction of a new assembly hall and stairway route aimed at improving crowd management and devotee facilities. The closure, initially extended until May 31, 2026, was necessitated by the large-scale works being carried out within the temple premises.

According to the district administration, a significant increase in the number of devotees is expected at Bhimashankar during the 2027 Kumbh Mela, as pilgrims visiting Nashik and Trimbakeshwar are also likely to travel to the revered Jyotirlinga shrine.

Officials said the construction of the main assembly hall, which would normally have taken nearly a year to complete, is being finished within five months due to the cooperation of the Bhimashankar Devasthan Trust, local villagers, devotees, and round-the-clock execution of the project.

The main assembly hall is expected to be completed by May 31, while additional works related to queue management, sanitation, crowd control, and devotee amenities are scheduled to be completed by June 15.

As the project has entered its final phase and the remaining minor works are being completed on priority, the Shri Kshetra Bhimashankar Devasthan Trust has fixed June 15 as the reopening date for regular darshan.

The temple administration has announced that online registration for darshan will begin on June 5 through the temple’s official website (https://shreebhimashankar.com). Initially, entry will be restricted to 1,000 devotees per day.

From June 15 to June 30, devotees will be allowed darshan daily between 7 am and 11 am. The list of registered devotees will be published on the temple’s official website. Visitors who register online will be required to carry valid identity proof while visiting the temple.

“Devotees and local citizens are requested to understand the importance of these arrangements and cooperate with the Temple Trust, District Administration, Police Administration and local authorities,” said Gajanan Patil, In-charge District Collector and District Magistrate, Pune.

The reopening is expected to bring relief to thousands of devotees who have been unable to visit the temple during the five-month closure period while the infrastructure upgrade works were underway.
