Pune – Bhimthadi Jatra comes forward to help self help group

Pune, May 22, 2020: The outbreak of COVID-19 has brought unprecedented and difficult time on self help groups, local artisans, craftsmen and farmers. They are now fighting a battle for survival.


Bhimthadi Jatra, a legacy and well known rural carnival, known for their inclusive and constructive work around women empowerment and women entrepreneurship has come forward to help these crucial members of our community. Sunanda Tai Pawar, founder of Bhimthadi Jatra, recently announced ‘Bhimthadi For Local’ initiative to provide much needed support to these distressed local businesses.



Under this initiative, Bhimthadi Jatra social media accounts will be used extensively to promote products made by self help groups, artisans and craftsmen. People will be able to order their favourite products by directly contacting producers. Orders will be delivered after lockdown.


Keeping this whole process as transparent as possible, Bhimthadi will also help buyers and sellers through dedicated helpline number. Bhimthadi aims to provide much needed platform and market to these distressed sellers through their huge community.



Entering its 15th year, Bhimtadhi Jatra haBhimthadis empowered more than 3 Lack women and 3500 self help groups, enabling means of financial independence. Sunanda Tai Pawar, founder of Bhimtadhi Jatra , has always been a staunch flag bearer of women empowerment and their financial independence. As stated by her, Bhimthadi For Local is another important step in that direction,considering current circumstances. She has urged everyone to support this campaign .
