Pune: Bhosari Food Supply Circle Officer Arrested for Accepting Rs 16,000 Bribe
Pune, 11th December 2025: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Pune, on Wednesday arrested Gajanan Ashokrao Deshmukh, Circle Officer at the Food Grain Distribution Office, F-Zone, Bhosari, for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹16,000 from a complainant to process 14 new ration cards.
According to the ACB, the complainant—who is physically disabled and works as a social worker—often helps acquaintances apply for new ration cards. After completing the official procedure and receiving “N” numbers for 14 applicants, he visited the Bhosari Food Supply Office to collect the approved cards.
Deshmukh allegedly demanded ₹900 per ration card, totalling ₹12,600, over and above the official fee. The complainant refused to pay the illegal amount and approached the ACB on December 10.
During a verification conducted on December 11, Deshmukh allegedly increased the demand to ₹19,000, stating that 10 ration cards would cost ₹1,500 each while the remaining four would cost ₹1,000 each. After negotiation, he agreed to accept ₹16,000.
Later that afternoon, the ACB laid a trap at the Bhosari Food Distribution Office, where Deshmukh accepted the bribe at 2:19 pm. He was caught red-handed and taken into custody.
The ACB has initiated the process of registering a case under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, at Bhosari Police Station, Pimpri-Chinchwad Police.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of SP Shirish Sardeshpande, Additional SP Ajit Patil, and Additional SP Arjun Bhosale of ACB Pune.
The ACB has urged citizens to immediately report any bribe demands made by government officers, employees, or their agents through the official helpline numbers or WhatsApp.
