Pune, 6th February 2024: BJP leader Sunil Deodhar has initiated legal proceedings against journalist Nikhil Wagle, accusing him of circulating offensive content on Twitter (now X) against senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader LK Advani and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Deodhar has submitted an application in this regard at Vishrambaug Police Station, alleging that Wagle’s statements aimed at creating rifts among people and deliberately insulting prominent political figures.
In his complaint, Deodhar claimed that Wagle intentionally insulted Advani, Prime Minister Modi, and President Droupadi Murmu by making statements that could potentially create divisions among communities. The controversy arose following the announcement of the Bharat Ratna award to Advani.
Deodhar argued that such actions by Wagle were intended to disrupt social harmony and jeopardize law and order.
Notably, President Murmu, holding a tribal background, was also allegedly insulted by Wagle, undermining both the President and the significance of the Bharat Ratna award.
