Kothrud, 28th September 2025: Navratri festivities are being celebrated with enthusiasm across the city. However, a Dandiya program organized at Jeet Maidan in Kothrud on Saturday evening was abruptly stopped following intervention by BJP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Medha Kulkarni.

According to residents, loud music from the event caused disturbance in the locality, particularly to patients and senior citizens. The citizens approached Kulkarni with complaints, after which she contacted the Police Commissioner and local police officials seeking action.

Kulkarni alleged that despite repeated calls, no steps were taken by the authorities. She then personally visited the venue and halted the program.

Speaking on the occasion, Kulkarni said, “Several seriously ill patients are suffering because of the loud sound system used at this event. Citizens have been facing this issue every year as the program continues to exceed the prescribed noise limits. We had informed the Police Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner of Police and the local police inspector, but no action was taken. That is why we had to stop the program through lawful means. This was our Satyagraha, and such violations will not be allowed in future.”

Residents of the area have long raised concerns about the annual event, citing noise pollution and inconvenience. The incident has sparked discussions about balancing cultural celebrations with adherence to noise regulations.
