Pune, 23rd June 2023: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has expressed its commitment to implementing the Uniform Civil Code in Maharashtra state and has sent a letter to the Central Government demanding its implementation before the upcoming Lok Sabha and Legislative Assembly elections. This clarification was made by BJP leaders during their interactions under the ‘Modi@9’ and ‘Sampark Te Samarthan Abhiyan’ campaigns, where they visited various places in the state to engage with activists, citizens, and organizations.

On Friday, BJP leader Bawankule visited the “Sakal” office, where he was welcomed by editor Samrat Phadnis and executive editor Sheetal Pawar. Through video conferencing, Bawankule interacted with the editors of all editions of “Sakal” and discussed the party’s strategies and goals for the upcoming elections.

Responding to a question about whether the BJP will secure 51 percent of the votes and form an alliance with Shiv Sena and other parties, Bawankule stated that the BJP must work hard to achieve that target. He emphasized the importance of strengthening the party’s organization and forming alliances with like-minded parties. As part of this effort, Mahadev Jankar, Sadabhau Khot, and Jyoti Mete from the Shiv Sangram organization have also been invited for discussions to gauge the political environment and devise strategies accordingly.

Bawankule further mentioned that the government’s work and achievements will positively impact the party’s prospects. The BJP has plans to address any shortcomings and has already introduced various initiatives aimed at benefiting the people and party workers. Bawankule expressed confidence that the upcoming budget presented by Devendra Fadnavis, the former Chief Minister, will strengthen the BJP’s position.

Regarding the expansion of the cabinet, Bawankule informed that a meeting with allies, including Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, will be held to make decisions in this regard. He also stated that if workers from the Shinde group of Shiv Sena express their desire to join the BJP, they will be welcomed after discussions with Shinde.

When asked about the demand for a separate Vidarbha, Bawankule explained that the BJP has not abandoned this demand. However, he couldn’t specify when a decision regarding a separate Vidarbha would be made. Bawankule highlighted the historical neglect faced by Vidarbha-Marathwada regions since the formation of Maharashtra, with a significant portion of funds being directed towards Western Maharashtra. He emphasized that Devendra Fadnavis is committed to addressing this developmental backlog.

Bawankule mentioned that Ajit Pawar, a prominent leader from the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), possesses the ability to manage workers effectively. He expressed confidence that if Ajit Pawar becomes the state president of the NCP, it would result in an increase in the party’s seats. Bawankule also stated that while Supriya Sule will not be contesting from Baramati in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections but will contest assembly elections. BJP has candidate ready for Baramati Lok Sabha seat.
