Pune: Black Market Gas Scandal Unearthed in Pimpri Chinchwad: Anti-extortion Squad Seizes Goods Worth Rs 13,000

Sangvi, 6th May 2024: Sangvi, 6th May 2024: An incident involving the theft of Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) and its subsequent sale in the black market has come to light in Pimpri Chinchwad. The Anti-extortion Squad of the Pimpri Chinchwad crime branch took action, seizing goods worth more than Rs 13,000. This action occurred in Shitole Nagar of Sangvi on Saturday (4th May) at around 1:30 PM.

Police Constable Pradeep Vitthalrao Gatte of the Anti-extortion Squad has complained to the Sangvi Police Station. Sangvi Police have arrested Shyam, also known as Lakhan Vamanrao Landge (age 25), a resident of Shitole Nagar, Sangvi, and a native of Bidar, Karnataka.

According to police reports, the accused, Landge, was operating the Ankit gas store. He allegedly stole gas from a large household cylinder in his shop using a refilling nozzle and transferred it into dangerously small four-kilogram cylinders. These small cylinders were then sold at a higher rate. Upon receiving information about this illegal activity, the anti-extortion team conducted a raid on the shop, detained Shyam, and seized materials worth Rs 13,950 from his possession.

In connection with this incident, the Sangvi Police have registered a case against Accused Landge under IPC Sections 285 (negligent conduct with respect to fire or combustible matter) and 286 (negligent conduct with respect to explosive substance), along with relevant sections of the Essential Commodities Act of 1955. Police Sub-inspector Kadam from Sangvi Police Station is investigating this matter further.
