Pune-Bound IndiGo Flight Alters Course: Pilot’s Personal Crisis Grounds Aircraft in Patna

Patna, 17th January 2024: In an unexpected turn of events, passengers on the IndiGo flight 6E-126 from Patna to Pune were left bewildered when the pilot, on the verge of takeoff, abruptly declined to fly. The pilot, grappling with the distressing news of his mother’s demise, cited an unsteady mental state as the reason for his inability to operate the flight under the circumstances.

The scheduled departure, slated for 1:30 pm from Patna to Pune, encountered an emotional upheaval as the pilot received the heart-wrenching news while the aircraft was positioned on the runway. Communicating from the cockpit, the pilot informed the airline that his compromised mental balance rendered him unfit to command the flight given the circumstances.

This prompt decision led to the evacuation of all 162 passengers and crew members on board. IndiGo Airlines acted swiftly, arranging for a replacement pilot from Delhi to ensure the seamless continuation of the journey to Pune. The flight eventually took off at 5 pm, with the new pilot taking charge.

Passengers were understandably taken aback by the unexpected announcement from the distressed pilot. The airline clarified that the pilot’s emotional state, triggered by the news of his mother’s demise, compelled him to step down from his duties for the flight.

In consideration of the situation, all passengers were accommodated on an alternative flight to Pune, departing at 5 pm. The airline prioritized their safety and convenience amidst the unforeseen circumstances, emphasizing its commitment to passenger well-being.
