Pune: BPCL Gas Tanker Overturns on Pavnar Bridge; Authorities Respond Rapidly

Pune, 25th June 2023: In a primary report received today, it has been informed that a gas tanker belonging to BPCL (Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited) met with an accident at the beginning of the Pavnar Bridge while traveling from Mumbai to Pune at around 3:30 AM. The tanker overturned, leading to a potentially hazardous situation. The Fire Department of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation swiftly responded to the incident, with a team of four units led by Chief Fire Officer Vijay Thorat, Fire Officer Chipade, and Disaster Management Chief  Omprakash Bahival. Police officials, including Deputy Commissioner Vivek Patil, Assistant Police Commissioner  Balasaheb Kopnar, Deputy Commissioner Ravikiran Ghodke, Senior Police Inspector  Ranganath Unde, and 50 other police personnel, were also present at the scene.

The ongoing operations are focused on the safe transfer of the gas from the affected tanker, which arrived with vehicles involved in gas transfer. Additional Commissioner  Pradeep Jambhale Patil and Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Waghe are present at the site
