Pune, 19th February 2025: The city and surrounding districts are experiencing a noticeable rise in temperature, with the maximum soaring by 1°C to 2°C. On Tuesday, Koregaon Park recorded the highest temperature at 37.7°C, marking a sharp increase as summer heat intensifies.

According to the Pune Division of the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the city will continue to experience dry weather over the next two days, likely pushing temperatures even higher.

The fluctuating weather patterns have left Punekars facing a mix of chilly mornings and sweltering afternoons, leading to a surge in heat-related health issues. Over the past 24 hours, both maximum and minimum temperatures have risen by up to 2°C, with Haveli recording the lowest minimum temperature at 13°C.

Several areas, including Koregaon Park, Rajgurunagar, Magarpatta, NDA, Chinchwad, Shivajinagar, Pashan, and Indapur, saw daytime temperatures exceeding 35°C, making for an uncomfortable heatwave. Just last week, temperatures in some areas were below 30°C but have now surged past 32°C.

Beyond Pune, rising temperatures are being observed across Konkan-Goa, Central Maharashtra, Marathwada, and Vidarbha. Akola recorded the highest temperature in the state at 37.8°C.

While most parts of Maharashtra will remain dry, the IMD has forecasted light showers in the Vidarbha region on 21st February and 22nd February, offering some respite from the soaring temperatures.
